If you are interested in SEO, then meta title, meta description tags are some terms you would be familiar with. However, not many of us know what impacts that they have on the search engine, and we are here to crack it for you.

Let’s start with the meta description tag. If you are not sure what a meta description is, here is a picture to demonstrate it for you.

As you can see from the picture, the meta description purpose is to briefly explain the website to your audiences. This meta description, however, does not play an important role in SEO ranking, but it is important because if the explanation of the site is not clear, the customers will not be clicking on your website.

The meta title, however, is the important factor in SEO ranking, since that is the first thing Google will look at, to rank your site. Therefore, you want to make sure that your title has the most important keyword included, as well as respecting the limit for your meta title. You don’t want your meta title to be too short, since you might miss the opportunity to include more keywords, you don’t want it to be too long because your title won’t be able to show fully, on the search engine. The ideal title would be no longer than 65 characters (space in between words, symbols are considered characters).

Finally, we would like to look at the meta tags (keywords meta tags). These tags are no longer part of the SEO ranking process. The main reason for that is keyword meta tags are not displayed on the page, and most of the time people will stuff as many keywords as they can to trick the algorithm. Therefore, Google believed that ranking SEO using meta tags is no longer effective and they stopped doing it.
